Biography

Helle Winther is an Associate Professor in Dance, Movement Psychology, and Dance Movement Therapy at the Department of Sports and Nutrition, University of Copenhagen. She leads the subject group in dance and performance. An internationally certified dance and movement psychotherapist and supervisor, she is also trained in Heartfulness and has completed the intensive 'Leading Research' course at the university. Helle teaches and researches various topics including dance, play, dance therapy, body-based practices, holistic movement methods, movement psychology, and body language in professional practices. Her research focuses on how dance, play, and dance therapy can create joy, flow, and community in diverse and multicultural contexts. Helle has extensive experience in educating and supervising at the bachelor, master, and doctoral levels, and collaborates with various organizations such as the Red Cross and Rigshospitalet. She has authored and edited nine books and has published numerous international and Danish scientific articles, actively participating in international networks concerning dance and innovative artistic research methods. Helle Winther has been recognized multiple times for her teaching excellence, receiving several awards, including ‘Teacher of the Year’ at the University of Copenhagen.
