Biography

Helmut Rainer is a Professor of Economics at the University of Munich and the Director of the Center for Labor and Demographic Economics at the ifo Institute. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Essex in 2005. His research focuses on applied microeconomics with a particular emphasis on family economics and labor economics. In addition to his academic work, he is actively engaged in policy advising and serves as a member of the German Federal Government's expert commission for the Gender Equality Report. He has contributed to policy evaluations for German ministries and has recently served as President of the European Society for Population Economics (ESPE).
