Biography

Hendrik Marks is an Associate Professor at Radboud University, specializing in Molecular Biology. With a decade-long career focused on uncovering epigenetic mechanisms, he has predominantly worked with in vitro cultured mouse Embryonic Stem Cells (mESCs). His research has been supported by substantial funding, including a VIDI grant that enabled him to start a high-output research group. His lab has pioneered the interconversion of early mESCs and conventional mESCs, utilizing integrative -omics approaches to uncover critical regulatory epigenetic mechanisms involved in early embryonic stages. Notably, his lab characterized early mESCs and discovered significant repressive epigenetic marks protecting DNA during pivotal developmental processes. He has also innovated miniaturized devices for (epi)genetic profiling, supported by collaborations with leading microfluidics companies. Marks has published extensively on topics related to epigenetics and embryonic development, receiving numerous grants and awards for his impactful research.
