Biography

Hendrik Vollmer joined Warwick Business School in 2020 after serving as the Head of the Accounting Division at the University of Leicester for five years. He has a rich background in academia, having spent sixteen years at Bielefeld University in Germany, where he edited the 'Zeitschrift für Soziologie', a leading German-language peer-reviewed journal in sociology, from 2008 to 2015. In addition, he is a member of several editorial boards including 'Zeitschrift für Soziologie', the 'Accounting, Organizations and Society' journal, and the 'Social and Environmental Accountability Journal'. He is also a member of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Vollmer's research interests include understanding accounting as a social practice within organizations, businesses, governments, and local communities. He is particularly focused on the dynamics of accounting changes under disruptive conditions and the potential for accounting to address ecological issues and impacts. He has published insights regarding sustainability accounting and its value creation for businesses.
