Biography

Henk Noorman is a Dutch national trained as a chemical engineer, graduating from Groningen University. He obtained his Ph.D. in systems biology from the Technical University of Delft in 1991. Since 1994, he has worked on various projects at Gist-brocades/DSM, focusing on sectors like Anti-Infectives, Bio-based Products Services, Nutritional Products, Food Specialties, and Fibre Intermediates as part of their Corporate Research Program. Currently, he serves as a Corporate Science Fellow within the competence area of Engineering Sciences, where he drives the strategic development of business alignment. In 2012, he was appointed as an honorary professor in Bioprocess Design at TU Delft and has been active in establishing strong international networks concerning fermentation technology, facilitating collaborations across the EU, China, and Brazil. His special research interests include scale-up and scale-down processes, bioprocess computation, and syngas fermentation.
