Professor Dr. Henric Benesch

Biography

Henric Benesch is a trained architect from Chalmers University of Technology, where he also received his PhD in design from HDK at the University of Gothenburg in 2010. He is currently an Associate Professor and has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts since 2023. Benesch is involved in interdisciplinary research projects focused on design, public space, and participation, specifically through the lens of critical institutional perspectives. He has led various projects such as 'Hidden Sites' that aim to make heritage sites visible and accessible. His research interests also include design education and rights perspectives within the context of urban heritage. Over the years, Benesch has co-curated art and design exhibitions and contributed to academic journals, focusing on co-design and public participation in design research. His ongoing work continues to advance dialogues in the fields of heritage studies and participatory design practices.
