Dr. Henriette Steiner

Biography

Henriette Steiner is a Professor at the University of Copenhagen, where she serves as Head of the Section for Landscape Architecture and Planning. She obtained her PhD in Architecture from the University of Cambridge in 2008 and has held positions as a Research Associate at ETH Zurich and as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her research focuses on the historical and philosophical dimensions of architecture and landscapes, engaging with big challenges of the 21st century such as climate change and inequality. Henriette is an advocate for diverse and equitable spatial practices, aiming to inspire self-reflective design approaches. She coordinates the academic community Intersect, which fosters interdisciplinary collaboration across arts, humanities, and social sciences. Her significant contributions include recent publications such as "Tower Tower" and "Touch Time Corona," as well as leadership in projects addressing women's contributions to architecture in Denmark. Henriette has received honors like the Senior Scholar Fellowship from the American Society of Architectural Historians and the Carlsberg Foundation Monograph Fellowship. Currently, she also coordinates several research projects focused on alternative living forms and cultural heritage in Copenhagen.
