Henrik Vorum is a clinical professor at the Clinical Institute of Aalborg University and a consultant at the Eye Department of Aalborg University Hospital. His research focuses on ophthalmological diseases, particularly molecular mechanisms and biomarkers related to retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and glaucoma. He graduated as a doctor from Aarhus University in 1994 and obtained his PhD in the same year based on fundamental molecular biology research. In 1999, he earned his doctoral degree (dr.med.) for research on ligand binding to human serum albumin. Vorum has developed a large animal model (pig) for experimental ophthalmological research to simulate venous and arterial occlusions in the retina to investigate disease progression and treatment effects at a translational level. His work has contributed significantly to understanding the immunological components of AMD. Vorum has published over 220 publications, received numerous awards, including the Bagger-Sørensen Research Prize (2012) and the Synoptik Foundation Research Prize (2022), and played a major role in establishing the medical candidate program at Aalborg University. His research group focuses on translational research to bring basic scientific discoveries closer to clinical application for patients with severe eye diseases.
Requirements apply generally to Master's programs across departments including Sociology, Business, and Engineering at Aalborg University.
