Dr. Henry Brands

Biography

H.W. Brands is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Texas at Austin, where he holds the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History. He earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985 and has a diverse educational background, including degrees in Mathematics and Liberal Studies. Brands has taught at various institutions, including Vanderbilt University and Texas A&M University, before joining the faculty at the University of Texas. He specializes in American history and politics, authoring several best-selling books including 'Man Saved the Union' and 'Traitor Class.' His works have been finalists for prestigious awards like the Pulitzer Prize and have been translated into multiple languages. A frequent guest on national media, Brands has contributed significantly to the field, holding multiple editorial board positions for esteemed journals such as the International History Review and Presidential Studies Quarterly.
