Henry, known by the nickname Pete, was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University, where he worked with Professor Jared Shaw on antibiotic synthesis and with Professor Masahiro Murakami at Kyoto University on main group organometallics. His graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley involved collaborations with Professors John Arnold, Robert Bergman, and Dean Toste, focusing on the development of Z-selective alkyne semi-hydrogenation catalysts. Following graduation, he studied ligand control in reactive low- and high-valent uranium complexes as a postdoctoral scholar under Professor Karsten Meyer at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. Henry served as the Director's Postdoctoral Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory, conducting ligand K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopic studies of transuranic complexes with Dr. Stosh Kozimor. Since his appointment at Georgia Institute of Technology in 2016, his work has garnered recognition through the Arnold Mabel Beckman Young Investigator Award, NSF CAREER Award, and Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award. His group’s research is supported by the ACS Petroleum Research Fund and the Department of Energy Heavy Element Chemistry Program.
