Biography

Herbert N. Beller is a Professor of Practice Emeritus at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He has been an influential figure in federal tax law, practicing primarily in Washington, D.C. since 1969, with a focus on corporate transactional tax planning, tax controversies, and representations before the IRS National Office including exempt organization matters. Beller continues to practice law with Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. His leadership roles include serving as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation from 2002 to 2003 and as an appointed member of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council from 2006 to 2009. He has also contributed as Co-Chair of the National Conference of Lawyers and CPAs and held esteemed positions such as Trustee of the American Tax Policy Institute and President of the Tannenwald Foundation for Excellence in Tax Scholarship. Beller received his J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law in 1967 and has experience as a law clerk for Judge Theodore Tannenwald, Jr. at the United States Tax Court.
