Biography

Hercules Haralambides is a Professor of Maritime Economics and Logistics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he has held a prominent position for 26 years. He has taught at nine universities across seven countries and is currently a Distinguished Chair Professor at Dalian Maritime University in China. Haralambides is also a Visiting Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam and an affiliated researcher at the Sorbonne Center for Economics at Sorbonne University. He is a founding member of the Erasmus Center for Maritime Economics and Logistics and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly journal Maritime Economics & Logistics, published by Springer-Palgrave-Macmillan. Over his career, he has authored more than 300 scientific papers, books, reports, and articles in the fields of ports, maritime transport, and logistics. His consultancy experience includes working with governments, international organizations, and private companies worldwide. Notably, he served as the President of the Port of Brindisi in Italy from 2011 to 2015 and was awarded the Golden Cross of the Order of Phoenix by the President of the Hellenic Republic in 2008.
