Biography

Dr. Hermann dos Santos Fernandes holds a medical degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (2009). He completed his residency in Anesthesiology in 2015 and Pain Management in 2016 at the University of São Paulo. In 2019, he earned a Doctorate in Science from the Anesthesiology Program at the University of São Paulo. He completed clinical fellowships in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine in 2021 and Simulation in Medical Education in Anesthesia in 2022. Currently, he is appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto, where he works primarily in Anesthesiology with a focus on Pain Management. His clinical interests span a variety of topics including anesthesiology, obstetric anesthesia, regional anesthesia, ultrasound techniques, pain control, interventional pain medicine, airway control, bleeding management, coagulopathy, and thromboelastometry.
