Biography

Hicham H. Hallal earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from McGill University in 2008. From 2000 to 2009, he worked as a research engineer at the Computer Research Institute of Montreal, specializing in distributed system analysis and formal methods. He collaborated on numerous projects in this field with industrial partners such as Siemens AG, SAP, and IBM. In 2009, he transitioned to academia, taking on teaching and administrative roles in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, including serving as Chairperson of the Electrical Engineering Department and Acting Dean of the College of Engineering at Fahad Bin Sultan University in KSA. Dr. Hallal joined the American University of Sharjah (AUS) in 2018, where he served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and acted as an academic advisor for the computer science and computer engineering programs. His teaching encompasses various topics across Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, including Software Engineering, GUI Design, Programming, Virtual and Augmented Reality Game Development, Computer Organization and Architecture, Microcontrollers and Embedded Applications, and Signals and Communication Systems. Dr. Hallal's research interests include modeling and verification of distributed systems, applications of Virtual Reality systems, and Cybersecurity.
