Dr. Hien Phan

Biography

Hien Phan is a researcher in International Relations specializing in geopolitical security, currently conducting doctoral research on ASEAN regionalism at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Her research includes projects such as 'Eangage - Think Act,' in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, and the Asian Vision Institute of Cambodia. She has co-authored papers addressing significant topics, including the Belt Road Initiative in Southeast Asia and the role of ASEAN in the context of major power rivalries. Prior to her work at UNSW, Phan held a position at Vietnam's State Audit Office, where she was responsible for international cooperation and reviewing the budgetary and economic activities of the nation. She has also engaged in research at South Korea's national development institute, focusing on the Chinese government's influence on domestic and international policies. Hien holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Bath and a Master’s degree in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
