Dr. Hilary Becker

Biography

Hilary Becker is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University, where she has taught for over 25 years. She received her PhD from the University of Havana and holds several degrees including a B.Sc. in Biology and both BCom and MBA degrees from the University of Windsor, along with CPA Ontario and CGA Ontario designations. Hilary has previously taught at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and has experience as an analyst at DuPont Inc. She has consulted for various organizations including the World Wildlife Fund, the MacArthur Foundation, AFNI, Mosaid, Merck-Schering Plough, DFAIT, and CPA CGA Government of Cuba. Recognized as an expert in Cuban affairs and tourism business, she has conducted Executive MBA programs in Hong Kong and Sprott’s MBA programs in Bogota, Shanghai, and Qeshm. Her research interests include Caribbean Economic Development, Tourism, Performance Management, Strategic Management, and Blue Ocean Strategy. Hilary is also a certified member of the Blue Ocean Strategy Network from INSEAD University in France.
