Biography

Hilary Karasz is an affiliate assistant professor in the Department of Health Systems and Population Health and a public information officer and communications consultant at Public Health – Seattle & King County. She has a particular interest in mobile health and studies the use of technologies such as text messaging to bridge communication gaps and reduce inequities in King County communities. In addition to her teaching in the COPHP program, Karasz also teaches health promotion communication in the UW Online Master of Public Health program. As a faculty researcher at the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice, she conducts research on emergency communications. Karasz earned her doctorate in communications from the University of Washington.
