Dr. Hilary Solder

Biography

Hilary Patricia Blumberg is the John Hope Furth Professor of Psychiatric Neuroscience and a Professor of Psychiatry and Radiology at Yale School of Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude in neuroscience from Harvard University and completed her medical degree at Cornell University Medical College, followed by psychiatry training. Dr. Blumberg's research focuses on understanding the brain circuitry underlying mood disorders, particularly bipolar disorder and suicide prevention. She directs the Mood Disorders Research Program at Yale, a multidisciplinary team that studies the genetic, developmental, and environmental factors contributing to mood disorders. The program is noted for utilizing advanced brain scanning methods and training up-and-coming scientists. Dr. Blumberg has received numerous awards for her research, including the 2021 Mogens Schou Award from the International Society for Bipolar Disorders and the 2018 Blanche F. Ittleson Award from the American Psychiatric Association for her outstanding published research in child and adolescent psychiatry. She is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
