Dr. Hippolite Amadi

Biography

Hippolite Amadi's engineering medical career has spanned decades since 1987, focusing on innovations in healthcare and research in orthopaedics and neonatology. As a prominent contributor to medical innovations in neonatology, he has significantly influenced academia at Imperial College London, where he is a professor. His landmark discoveries include a mathematical model for capsular insertion in the human proximal humerus in 2006, which enhanced planning for shoulder surgeries; the Recycled Incubator Technology (RIT) in 2003; the identification of tropical Evening-fever Syndrome (EFS) in neonates in 2012; and the Handy Approach (HHA) in 2012. His contributions in neonatal health, especially in low- and middle-income countries, have garnered global recognition. Amadi serves as the principal consultant for Neonatal Concerns Africa, a charity he founded, where he aims to address neonatal challenges across Nigeria, collaborating with research groups nationwide. His work also includes the development of medical technologies aimed at improving neonatal care and reducing mortality rates. He has been recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine for his contributions to both research and practice in this vital field.
