Biography

Hisham Z. Massoud joined the Duke University Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in 1983 and has since served as a Professor and founding director of the Semiconductor Research Laboratory. With a background as a research scientist at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center and the Microelectronics Center of North Carolina, he has also engaged with global institutions including Hewlett-Packard and the Max-Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics. In 2012, he was a visiting professor at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia. A Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a Lifetime Fellow of the Electrochemical Society, Professor Massoud has received accolades including the 2006 Electronics Photonics Division Award from the Electrochemical Society for his work on ultrathin MOS gate dielectric films.
