Dr. Hoang Phuong Phan

Biography

Hoang-Phuong Phan is an Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. His research spans a broad range of applications in semiconductor devices, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and flexible electronics. His work has led to significant breakthroughs in nanomembranes for long-term implanted bio-barriers and battery-free sensors, showcasing his innovative contributions to the field. Phan has published over 140 journal articles in prestigious venues like Nature Communications and Science Advances and actively supervises research projects in his lab, the Phan Lab. His research is aimed at developing new materials and sensing technologies that operate effectively in challenging environments. He has received several awards, including the Griffith University Postdoctoral Fellowship and the Australian Nanotechnology Network Fellowship, recognizing his contributions to micro and nanotechnologies. Phan's credentials include a Ph.D. from Griffith University and degrees from the University of Tokyo, Japan, reflecting his extensive background in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering. He has undertaken visiting research positions at institutions such as Stanford University and Northwestern University.
