I am a researcher Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedicine at Aarhus University, specializing in medical microbiology. My work primarily focuses on how skin bacteria influence human health, particularly in relation to the human skin microbiome and its contribution to health and disease, including skin disorders and implant-related infections. I also delve into antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogens, molecular epidemiology, host-pathogen interactions, and microbiome editing. With a PhD in microbiology, I've spent considerable time at the Pasteur Institute in Paris and the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin. In addition to my research, I teach medical microbiology, emphasizing clinical bacteriology, and provide hands-on training for medical students. I co-organize an annual PhD course on host-pathogen and microbiome interactions, aiming to equip students with critical insights into these areas.
