Biography

Professor Holger Eichhorn specializes in the field of Materials, Organic, and Polymer Chemistry. He has extensive experience in synthetic materials chemistry, focusing on molecular design, synthesis, and materials characterization. His research emphasizes environmentally benign synthetic methodologies, including solvent-free microwave-assisted reactions. Eichhorn develops specialized syntheses for heterocyclic dyes and engages in molecular design to predict desired properties, which heavily relies on computational studies at the density functional theory (DFT) level. His research includes investigations of compounds and devices in collaboration with groups across North America and globally. He is involved in the synthesis and characterization of molecular and supramolecular structures, utilizing advanced techniques such as polarized spectroscopy and thermal analysis.
