Dr. Holly Benjamin

Biography

Holly J. Benjamin, MD, is a nationally recognized specialist in sports medicine with expertise in treating non-surgical musculoskeletal injuries. She holds the position of Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Chicago. Dr. Benjamin has a wealth of experience in managing acute overuse sport-related injuries for athletes at the high school and collegiate levels. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of a safe and speedy return to play post-injury and the significance of injury prevention. She serves as the Chair of the Committee on Sports Medicine & Fitness for the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of both the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Benjamin has held leadership roles in various sports medicine governing societies and was the inaugural Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Program at UChicago Medicine. She is an active speaker, presenting on numerous sports-related topics at local, regional, national, and international levels. Additionally, she fulfills roles as the head medical team physician for the WNBA Chicago Sky, the medical officer for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and team physician for the University of Chicago Lab School and NCAA Division III UChicago Maroons.
