Holly Doel-Mackaway has worked in the field of children’s rights for 25 years as an academic, lawyer, and social worker. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on international children’s rights law, children’s participation, Indigenous children’s rights, child protection, girls’ rights, and juvenile justice. She is involved in major grant projects across five continents aimed at advancing children’s rights globally. Currently, she is leading an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant application that aims to generate evidence to drive policy for meaningful social change for children in Australia and the Pacific. As Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Australian Journal of Human Rights, Holly plays a vital role in the legal profession in the Asia-Pacific region as an Expert Counsellor on the LAWASIA Human Rights Committee. In her teaching role, she has been recognized for her significant impact on students' learning and recently won the Vice-Chancellor's Learning and Teaching Award for excellence in 2021. Holly has written a book on Indigenous children's participation in law and policy development and has received several awards for her research contributions.
