Dr. Holly Rushmeier

Biography

Holly Rushmeier is a Professor at Yale Engineering with an extensive background in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Graphics. She earned her BS, MS, and PhD degrees from Cornell University. Dr. Rushmeier has held significant positions in academia and industry, including joining the Mechanical Engineering faculty at Georgia Tech in 1988, where she focused on computer graphics and image synthesis. She contributed to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, specializing in scientific data visualization from 1991, before moving to IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, addressing complex data visualization challenges in various sectors, including engineering and finance. Her work has involved projects like the digital modeling of Michelangelo's Pieta and the development of scanning systems for cultural artifacts. Presently, Dr. Rushmeier serves as an editor for several prestigious journals and has been actively involved in organizing and chairing key conferences in the field of computer graphics and visualization.
