Dr. Holm Tetens

Biography

Holm Tetens has been a professor of Philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin since October 1, 1988. He holds a doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Erlangen, where he completed a dissertation on the foundations of physics in 1977. His academic background includes studies in Philosophy, Mathematics, and Sociology at Bochum and Erlangen. He has held academic positions at various institutions, including a visiting professorship at the Universidade de Brasília and a C1-Hochschulassistent role at Philipps-Universität Marburg, where he later habilitated. His research specializes in the philosophy of exact sciences and the philosophy of technology, contributing significantly to the fields of epistemology and metaphysics. Tetens has published extensively, with notable works on the philosophy of mind, scientific theory, logic, and argumentation theory. He also has interests in experimental experience, religious philosophy, and existential philosophy. His teaching includes a variety of seminars and lectures on topics such as dialectical methods, critique of naturalism, and philosophical theology.
