Biography

Hom-Lay Wang is a Professor and the Director of Graduate Periodontics at the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry, a position he has held since 1995 after joining the faculty in 1989. He has obtained his DDS from Taipei Medical College and his MSD from Case Western Reserve University, followed by a PhD from Hiroshima University. Dr. Wang has co-edited four textbooks and has published over 890 peer-reviewed scientific articles alongside 65 book chapters. His academic leadership includes roles such as Immediate Past President of the Academy of Osseointegration and Board Trustee of the American Academy of Periodontology. He has served on numerous committees within these organizations and is currently involved with various international dental research and education initiatives. His research concentrates on guided tissue and bone regeneration, addressing periodontal and implant-related defects. Dr. Wang has received multiple awards for his contributions to dental science and education, including the AAP Outstanding Educator Award and the ADEA William J. Gies Annual Periodontology Award. Notably, he has delivered more than 1000 lectures across scientific congresses worldwide over the past 30 years.
