Biography

Hong Guo is the James McGill Professor in the Department of Physics at McGill University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1987. His research primarily focuses on quantum electronic transport theory, modeling nanoelectronics, materials physics, and nanotechnology. Guo's theoretical research group innovatively develops principles and computational methods for understanding quantum transport properties. He has successfully created a nonequilibrium quantum transport formalism that integrates density functional theory (DFT) and Keldysh nonequilibrium Green's function formalism. His work includes creating an efficient method called RESCU based on Kohn-Sham DFT to study materials systems with up to ten thousand atoms. Through his research, Guo aims to provide qualitative insights and advances in the field of materials physics and nanoelectronics.
