Biography

Hongcai Zhou is a Professor and Robert Welch Foundation Chair in the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University, specializing in Bioinorganic Catalysis, Inorganic Materials, and Medicinal Nanoscience among other fields. His research focuses on the self-assembly of supramolecular structures from small molecular building blocks, leading to significant advancements in the domains of materials chemistry and nanotechnology. His work has notably contributed to the study of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), Porous Polymer Networks (PPNs), and Porous Coordination Cages (PCCs), which are pivotal in applications such as gas storage, catalysis, and drug delivery. Through his research, Zhou has aimed to harness the unique properties of porous materials to enhance chemical processes and molecular interactions, thus pushing the boundaries of materials science. He obtained his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2000 and furthered his training as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University until 2002. Zhou has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson Reuters multiple times and has received numerous honors including Fellowships from the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the American Chemical Society.
