Dr. Hongli Liu

Biography

Hongli Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo, where he specialized in collaborative water programs. His research interests primarily focus on computational hydrology with applications in hydrologic modeling, forecasting, and climate change impact assessments, particularly in water resources engineering. Liu has published various articles in reputable journals, including Water Resources Research and Hydrological Processes. He actively works on modeling applications for extreme events like floods and droughts, aiming to advance predictive capabilities in the context of climate change. Liu has also been involved in projects related to ensemble Kalman filtering to address climate data uncertainties, enhancing parameter estimation for hydrologic models. He collaborates with a group dedicated to hydrological modeling, contributing to significant advancements in the field.
