Biography

HongWen Jiang is a distinguished professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Case Western Reserve University in 1989, studying under Prof. Arnold Dahm. After completing his postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University, he joined UCLA as an assistant professor in 1991, achieving tenure in 1994 and being promoted to full professor in 1998. He is known for his significant contributions to condensed matter physics, particularly in quantum Hall systems and electron localization phenomena. Jiang has received several prestigious awards, including the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and the William L. McMillan Award for outstanding contributions in his field. Throughout his career, Jiang has been heavily involved in teaching and has received multiple awards for his excellence in education. He has served as a consultant for the University of Science and Technology of China and is a founding member of the California NanoSystems Institute.
