Biography

Horacio J. Marquez received his BSc degree from the Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his MSc, MEng, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada in 1987, 1990, and 1993 respectively. Since 1996, he has been a member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, where he currently serves as a Professor. He has held visiting appointments at Royal Roads Military College and the University of Victoria in British Columbia. In 2008, he was a guest research professor at Nancy University with the University Henri Poincare in France. Dr. Marquez is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and serves as the Area Editor for the International Journal of Robust Nonlinear Control. His research focuses on nonlinear dynamical systems control, nonlinear observer design, and robust control applications. He has published works such as 'Nonlinear Control Systems: Analysis and Design' and has received the McCalla Research Professorship awarded by the University of Alberta.
