Biography

Horas Wong is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture with a transdisciplinary background in nursing, public health, anthropology, and health social sciences. He has worked as a clinical nurse, educator, and health researcher in Hong Kong and Australia. Currently, he is an affiliate researcher at the Centre for Social Research in Health, Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, and an executive committee member of the Australasian Sexual Health and HIV Nurses Association (ASHHNA), where he leads in the professional organization for sexual, reproductive health, and HIV nurses in the Australasian region. Wong's research expertise lies in gender and sexuality, migration, and culturally safe healthcare, with a strong focus on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmissible infections, and migrant health. He completed his PhD at UNSW Sydney in 2019, exploring transnational intersectional experiences of Chinese sexual minority migrants in Australia, a work nominated for doctoral thesis recognition at UNSW's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. His contributions include a chapter in the book "Sexualities, Transnationalism, Globalisation" published by Routledge, and guest editing the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Wong has been awarded several grants and holds an Authorised Nurse Immuniser certification in New South Wales, engaging in various health research projects supporting culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Australia.
