Dr. Horatio Morgan

Biography

Horatio M. Morgan is an Associate Professor at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, University of Waterloo. He focuses on interdisciplinary research that combines insights from economics, sociology, and psychology to tackle significant issues in international strategy and entrepreneurship. His research touches upon areas like immigrant entrepreneurship, minority and women entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial finance, and global value chain innovation. Dr. Morgan has extensively studied young companies, especially those led by immigrants and women, exploring how they can expand globally and profitably. His recent work addresses gaps in business performance between countries, particularly the Canada-U.S. business performance gap, by examining global value chain structures and innovation ecosystems. His research has been published in reputable journals including the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Business Venturing. Additionally, Dr. Morgan has received prestigious research grants, such as the SSHRC Insight Development Grant, and awards for his work in international business. He earned his PhD in economics from Simon Fraser University and has taught courses on entrepreneurial planning and business negotiations.
