Hormoz’s research studies how joint macroeconomic policies provide welfare gains for society. Understanding interdependencies in regulatory policies remains an open area of research with significant welfare implications. Conflicting effects from policies can lead to over-regulation which disrupts the credit flow to the real economy. Alternatively, policies decided in isolation can result in under-regulation, increasing default risk and potentially leading to socially undesirable outcomes. Hormoz’s research agenda focuses on providing a comprehensive framework to understand policy interdependencies that enhance the efficiency of the financial system through collective financial regulation. He was previously affiliated with the Cambridge Judge Business School as a postdoctoral research associate in finance, after completing his doctoral studies in finance at Imperial College London. Hormoz also served as a member of the Imperial College Student Investment Fund.
