Biography

Hosop Shin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He has been in this position since July 2024 and previously served as an Assistant and Visiting Assistant Professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis from 2018 to 2024. With a strong educational background, Hosop earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2015, following a Master's degree in the same field in 2009 and a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering from Kookmin University in 2007. His professional experience includes roles as Associate Faculty and Research Associate, with research fellowships at Nissan Technical Center North America and the University of Michigan. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he received the ORAU Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award in 2022. His research interests encompass electrochemistry, mechanics, interfacial chemistry, energy storage systems, advanced synthesis and processing of energy storage materials, and multi-scale modeling of energy devices.
