Hossam S. Hassanein is a Professor and Director at the School of Computing at Queen's University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kuwait University in 1984, a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1986, and his Ph.D. in Computing Science from the University of Alberta in 1990. Dr. Hassanein joined Queen's University in 1999 and is the founder and director of the Telecommunications Research Lab (TRL), which collaborates extensively with both academic and industrial partners worldwide. He has co-authored over 600 articles published in top-tier journals, conference proceedings, books, and book chapters, and has received numerous awards for his research contributions at international conferences. His research interests encompass edge computing services, wireless and mobile network architectures and protocols, radio resource management, the Internet of Things, and data-centric networks. Dr. Hassanein is a Fellow of the IEEE and has served as the past chair of the IEEE Communication Society Technical Committee on Ad hoc Sensor Networks. In 2015, he was honored with the Queen's University School of Graduate Studies Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Supervision.
