Dr. Hossam Tantawy

Biography

Hossam Tantawy is an Associate Professor at Yale University School of Medicine, specializing in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. He serves as the Associate Director for Critical Care Medicine and the ICU Fellowship. He completed his medical training at Alexandria University in Egypt and finished his residency in Anesthesiology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He has also completed fellowships in Critical Care and Cardiac Anesthesia at Yale. Dr. Tantawy is dual board certified in Critical Care Medicine and Perioperative Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography (TEE). His research primarily focuses on treatment outcome research, particularly the effects of fluid resuscitation and packed red blood cell transfusions in patients managing blood volume and pressure. Dr. Tantawy is engaged in clinical collaborations and his publications have co-authored various studies with other clinicians in the field. He is dedicated to advancing anesthesiology practices and improving patient outcomes through rigorous research and education.
