Professor Dr. Hossein Rouhani

Biography

Hossein Rouhani is a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, specializing in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. He holds prestigious positions as the Engineering Research Chair in Neurorehabilitation and directs the Mechatronics Engineering program. With expertise in bionics, biorobotics, and human-mechanical systems, Rouhani's research focuses on the design and analysis of neuroprosthetics and biomedical instrumentation. He has published extensively in areas including automation, robotics, and biomechanics. His innovative approaches to biomechanical data processing and risk assessment in postural balance have contributed significantly to advancements in rehabilitation technologies. Rouhani also engages in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses related to computational intelligence and mechanical systems. He has a strong academic background, holding a PhD in Biotechnology & Bioengineering from EPFL, alongside postdoctoral fellowships at esteemed institutions in Toronto and Switzerland.
