Professor Homayoun's research broadly encompasses computer engineering with an emphasis on hardware security and trust, computer system security, and heterogeneous computing for energy-efficient applications. He directs the Accelerated, Secure, Energy-Efficient Computing Laboratory (ASEEC) within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. His lab conducts experimental research in various areas including hardware security and trust, malware detection in IoT networks, detection and analysis of side-channel vulnerabilities, secure microarchitecture, hardware reverse engineering, trojan detection, big data computing, and hardware accelerators for machine learning analytics. Additionally, his work focuses on the design of heterogeneous architectures, the development of energy-efficient algorithms for emerging big data applications, and optimizing the acceleration of big data computing. Professor Homayoun serves as the site director for the National Science Foundation IUCRC Center for Hardware Embedded Systems Security and Trust (CHEST).
