Biography

Houman Savoji is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Montreal. He is also a full-time researcher at the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center and a principal investigator in regenerative medicine, organ-on-chip technologies, and 3D bioprinting at the TransMedTech Institute. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Polytechnique Montreal in 2016, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. Throughout his career, Dr. Savoji has received numerous prestigious fellowships and awards, including postdoctoral grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies, among others. He has been deeply involved in various research projects and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. His primary research interests include advanced manufacturing, particularly micro- and nano-fabrication of functional biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. His research focuses on the design, development, optimization, and characterization of innovative functional biomaterials using emerging engineering technologies, such as 3D bioprinting, microfluidics, and electrospinning. Functional biomaterials represent a significant demand in the engineering and medical fields.
