Biography

Houman Yarmand is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malaya in 2016. His doctoral research concentrated on advanced energy materials and their applications in thermofluids. After completing his Ph.D., he continued his research on functionalized graphene-based nanocomposite for energy applications at the Centre for Energy Science (CES), University of Malaya from 2017 to 2020. Subsequently, he expanded his expertise through a postdoctoral position at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands during the year 2021-2022, where he further developed multidisciplinary research skills, particularly in smart materials and advanced manufacturing with an emphasis on haptic science. Currently, Yarmand's research focuses on the development of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies tailored from functionalized nanoparticles for biomedical applications.
