Biography

Houshang Karimi received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran, in 1994 and 2000, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2007. He has held various positions including Visiting Researcher and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2001 to 2008. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, from 2009 to 2012. In June 2012, he became a Visiting Professor at the ePower lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, until January 2013. He worked as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Polytechnique Montreal, Quebec, Canada, from 2013 to 2022. In July 2022, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University, Toronto, Ontario, as a Professor. His research interests include Power Systems, Control Systems, Microgrid Control, and Smart Grid.
