Biography

Houston Peschl, MBA, is an Associate Professor (Teaching) at the Haskayne School of Business, focusing on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainable Development. He began his entrepreneurial journey at age 13 in Canmore, Alberta, and has since run multiple companies. Peschl completed his undergraduate degrees at the University of Calgary before transitioning to become the Director of Operations for Sustainability at DIRTT Environmental Solutions. During his tenure there, he mentored a serial entrepreneur and helped scale operations across North America while developing a comprehensive social and environmental sustainability program. Peschl co-founded Creating Eudaimonia, a firm dedicated to building capacity for start-ups and small companies in Canada, leading several firms in Alberta to achieve B Corp Certification. He is actively involved in promoting Benefit Corporations in North America. As a full-time Instructor, Peschl created an “Entrepreneurial Thinking” course that has engaged hundreds of business undergraduates. His research emphasizes Scholarship Teaching and Learning, focusing on preparing students for an uncertain and turbulent future. He has published multiple articles related to sustainability and entrepreneurship, and he is passionate about Open Educational Resources, evidenced by his creation of a free platform called Failing Forward. In 2019, he received several teaching awards from the University of Calgary's Sustainability Department and the Student Union.
