Dr. Howard Rockman

Biography

Howard Allan Rockman is the Edward S. Orgain Distinguished Professor of Cardiology at Duke University, where he also serves as a Professor of Medicine and in Cell Biology. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying hypertrophy and heart failure. By employing advanced molecular techniques, his lab generates transgenic and gene-targeted mouse models to study cardiac function and the physiological implications of candidate molecules involved in heart disease. His significant contributions include work on G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathways and their role in cardiac function and heart failure development. With an aim to model human cardiac diseases, he utilizes microsurgical and genetic models to create conditions of cardiac overload. His extensive research is supported by multiple grants from prestigious institutions, aimed at understanding and innovating treatments for various cardiovascular disorders.
