Biography

Howard Yim completed his PhD in the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at The University of Hong Kong, where his research identified viral host proteins that contribute to the pathogenesis of infectious diseases, particularly AIDS and tuberculosis. Following his PhD, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Monash University, focusing on the pathogenesis of inflammatory disorders, including inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, where he leads the Cancer Theme at the Microbiome Research Centre. His current research interests include the development of probiotics for colon cancer prevention, understanding the role of the virome in colon cancer, and exploring the role of the microbiome in male infertility and pancreatic cancer treatment. Howard is actively involved in various professional societies related to biomedical science and immunology.
