Biography

Hsin-Ya Tang is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of the Counseling Program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. Previously, she served as an Associate Professor and Clinical Coordinator for the CACREP-accredited counseling graduate program at Louisiana State University Shreveport. Tang's research and teaching focus on qualitative methodology, English language learners, multicultural supervision, counseling techniques, ethics and law in counseling, group counseling, and couple and family counseling. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in counseling from Taiwan and pursued her doctorate at Old Dominion University, where she earned her Ph.D. in 2014. Tang is passionate about contributing to the counseling profession and focuses on serving local and international student populations through teaching, advising, supervision, mentorship, and advocacy. Her research interests include Cultural linguistic dexterity, the experiences of Asian American and Asian international students, and multicultural multilingual supervision.
