Biography

Huadong Yao is a Professor in Marine Technology at Chalmers University of Technology, where his research focuses on renewable energy and clean transport from a fluid-structure interaction perspective. He completed his PhD in 2008, and has collaborated with colleagues and students both inside and outside of Chalmers on developing specific methods and tools to address critical industrial problems. He is a member of various professional organizations including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), SAE International, and the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA). He serves on the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) as a member of the Working Group on Offshore Renewable Energy, investigating the hydrographic impacts of offshore wind farms on ocean environments. Huadong has held guest professorships at other universities, served as a guest editor for scientific journals, and has been involved in the organization of international conferences on aerospace and marine technology. He has also been active as a keynote speaker at conferences and workshops, leading projects funded through Horizon 2020 and other Swedish national funding bodies, and participating in several collaborative projects such as ALONOCO and IVANHOE.
