Biography

Huaidong Du is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford in the Medical Sciences Division, whose research primarily focuses on the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) study. His work involves examining the relationships between diet, physical activity, adiposity, diabetes, and eye diseases. He played a key role in coordinating the resurveys for the CKB, which included 25,000 participants across ten study areas in China. Huaidong obtained his MD degree in 1994 and worked as an ophthalmologist for eight years in China before pursuing further education in the Netherlands, where he completed his MSc and PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology. In 2009, he joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit & Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU) at the University of Oxford.
